I Write What I Couldn’t Say: A Poem from Ink of Despair by Kawsar Ahamed

Some feelings are too deep for conversation. Some pain remains unspoken, not because we do not want to share it, but because words fail us. I Write What I Couldn’t Say is a poem about those silent emotions—the pain, love, poverty, loneliness, and memories that often remain hidden inside us.

This poem from Ink of Despair reflects the voice of someone who finds writing to be the only refuge when speaking becomes impossible.

A Love Lost in Silence – Poem By Kawsar Ahamed

English Version

I Write What I Couldn’t Say

I write what I couldn’t say,
I write what I couldn’t show,
I write what you don’t like—
this, this is all I know.

I write what I couldn’t say,
I write what I cannot make you understand.
Who knows, I am not good at talking—
so I write.

I write the story of the poor,
I write the struggle of a young man.
I write how this world turns colder
when coins decide your worth and voice,
how hunger teaches poetry
where living is not a choice.

A man without money,
a man without a voice—
is called worthless in this brutal world,
even to his own loved ones’ eyes.

I write unspoken love,
I write the feeling you couldn’t share.
I write how I care in silence,
I write emotions no one dares to bare.

I write the love for my mother,
though I could not show it in my life.
I write with tears falling slowly,
I write with a heart heavy like a knife.

I write a night without light,
I write a day without food to survive.
I write the life I am living,
just to feel somehow alive.

So I keep writing what I couldn’t say,
what I could never truly show—
and I survived what I couldn’t change,
in ways no one will ever know.

Because when words fail me in the world,
writing is the only place I go.

Hindi/Urdu Version

Main Woh Likhta Hoon Jo Keh Na Saka

Main woh likhta hoon jo keh na saka,
main woh likhta hoon jo dikha na saka,
main woh likhta hoon jo tum pasand nahi karte—
ye, ye hi sab kuch hai jo main jaanta hoon.

Main woh likhta hoon jo keh na saka,
main woh likhta hoon jo tumhein samjha na saka.
Kaun jaane, main baat karne mein acha nahi—
isliye main likhta hoon.

Main gareebon ki kahani likhta hoon,
main ek jawaan ladke ki jung likhta hoon.
Main likhta hoon kaise ye duniya thandi ho jaati hai
jab paisa insaan ki qeemat tay karte hain,
kaise bhookh shayari sikha deti hai
jab jeena koi ikhtiyaar nahi hota.

Ek aadmi bina paise ke, bina awaaz ke—
is zalim duniya mein bekaar samjha jaata hai,
kabhi apne hi ghar walon ki nazron mein bhi.

Main chupchaap mohabbat likhta hoon,
main woh jazba likhta hoon jo tum bayan na kar sake.
Main likhta hoon kaise main khayal rakhta hoon,

Main likhta hoon ek raat bina roshni ke,
main likhta hoon ek din bina roti ke.
Main woh zindagi likhta hoon jo main jee raha hoon,
sirf isliye ke kisi tarah zinda mehsoos kar sakoon.

Toh main likhta rehta hoon jo keh na saka,
jo kabhi sach mein dikha na saka—
aur main zinda raha un cheezon ke saath
jinhein main badal na saka,
aise tareeqon se jo kisi ko kabhi pata nahi chalega.

Kyunki jab duniya mein alfaaz saath nahi dete,
likhna hi mera aakhri ghar hota hai.

The Meaning Behind the Poem

I Write What I Couldn’t Say is a poem about the emotions we fail to express and the experiences we carry in silence. It speaks for those who struggle to communicate their pain, love, and fears. The speaker turns to writing because it becomes the only place where hidden feelings can finally find a voice.

The poem explores poverty, social inequality, loneliness, and unspoken love. It portrays a world where money often determines a person’s value and where hunger and suffering become unexpected teachers of poetry. At the same time, it is deeply personal, reflecting on love for one’s mother, emotional burdens, and the desire simply to feel alive.

Ultimately, the poem presents writing not merely as an act of creativity but as an act of survival.

“Because when words fail me in the world, writing is the only place I go.”
